Lucky Glider Rescue & Sanctuary (LGRS) is a non-profit exotic animal rescue dedicated to the health and protection of sugar gliders.
LGRS is a 501(c)3 public charity, which also provides community outreach in the form of educational programs for sugar glider owners
and enthusiasts.
We operate entirely on donations and the kindness of volunteers who visit the rescue to help with cleaning cages, food preparation, record keeping and animal interaction. The rescue operation is an around-the-clock affair, often requiring vigils with sick or malnourished animals that need to be nursed back to health.
We believe in neutering animals to stop the runaway epidemic of unwanted pets. Sugar Gliders, although not well known everywhere, are often purchased at flea markets or trade shows "on impulse." This creates a terrible animal abandonment and surrender situation because most people discover the care of these animals is just too much for them. There is no need to breed these animals. There are way too many of them and rescues are filled with unwanted ones, just as with cats and dogs.
